Lowering triglycerides naturally can be done in a similar way to lowering overall cholesterol levels.

People who are overweight, who drink a lot of alcohol, and who eat a diet that is high in fat or sugar are at a higher risk of high triglycerides so lowering triglycerides naturally involves:

  • Cutting down on alcohol consumption
  • Reducing intake of dairy, particularly butter, cream, and hard cheese
  • Replacing sausages, fatty cuts, and meat pies with lean meat, poultry and fish
  • Eating less sugary foods including cakes, cookies, and chocolate
